Big NEWS? Roger that!

Updated: May 24

Thank you to all who have been following my latest journey; this lil' red hen's effort to join the military. My four months and 11 days pursuit has finally paid off! In the latest waiting game for transcripts to arrive, choosing a job, receiving a basic training start date and orders, all came through in a single afternoon!

I am totally pumped to say that of the 12 jobs I picked out as ones I'd be open to enlisting in, I WAS able to secure one of them! Number 11 on my list, was the only job that had a basic training start date prior to my 43rd birthday. Even with the age waiver I was granted, I still had to BEGIN Basic Training before my next birthday or I would no longer be eligible to join. Ladies and jelly-spoons, please celebrate with me as I announce that I have secured a position in the Army as a Human Resources Specialist!

On May 17th I officially joined the U.S. Army! My Basic Training, or Earth & Fire-Witchtastic-Baptism rather, blesses me on June 11th, 2024! I'll be in basic training for 10 weeks, followed by 9 weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT) in Fort Jackson, SC. After which time, I will be given my first duty station of my Newly obtained Military Career!

I've weighed numerous career possibilities throughout this process, from being a Cryptologic Language Analyst for the Air Force, to becoming a Chaplain, to finally rediscovering my desire to learn Occupational Therapy with the Army. When my OT dream was denied, I even considered becoming a Practical Nurse to honor my ancestral grandmother who died before I was born...But I guess I wasn't meant to BEGIN my journey on such a note?

This process of preparations has tested me in numerous ways, but none more-so than my patience. Patience is NOT one of my gifts...not yet anyways. Throughout these last four months, I have been given opportunity after opportunity to recognize how each delay, every obstacle, every process halted in its tracks, was granting me the chance to pause and recognize the Powers at play. All these little "episodes" are intricately woven into the fabric of my life's story. A story I've been reminded over and over, of trusting a Universe that will always provide for me. My story of how every door that appears to close, is meant to close. Until finally, finally, the door that is meant just for me, the one with the Stars, Moon, Unicorn, and my Name is swirly-glitter all over it, will appear and open. That door finally presented itself!

Even though I'm not starting my military journey where I thought I would, I am so very grateful that I'll be starting my career in a high demand field, a field that is SAFE, is one I have over 16 years experience in, so my contributions may have a grander impact. But most importantly, I am grateful that my Human Resources position will allow me the energy at the end of my work day to attend college! I will finally be able to get my Bachelor's and hopefully my Master's in the field of Occupational Therapy! But I'm getting ahead of myself. I only know where I will begin. Who knows where this journey may guide me!

For those who hold interest in Herb'n Oracle beyond it's owner, and are wondering what's in store for my magickal online business, here's what I can tell you. My site will be down for a couple days for some maintenance at the start of June. After that, it will be back online. As for the offerings, I have decided to hide my online physical products from my store until such a time when I can have an apothecary's store room again. That means my Goddess Charms, essential oil blends, herbal ritual offerings, and herbal infusions (teas) AND the Tea Tasting Service are all on hold for now.

What WILL CONTINUE AFTER Completing My Basic Training, ARE MY :
